The last painting for this year. Done at the Muse's open session life drawing. Trying something a little different with my initial color mixes. I also put in the background first, then laid in the figure, then adjusted the background.
a portrait demo I did for art walk of a Chinese girl I nabbed from the crowd. I know, a horrible photograph. It actually looked much better and she and I were happy with it. I asked her what was wrong with it and she said her eyes were too open.
Two conte drawings from open session life drawing of Amy.
A painting from reference of a girl with freckles.
some conte on newsprint of Susan using the edge of conte sticks giving the drawings a hard edge. I tried softening some of the edges with an eraser. all are approximately 20 minutes.

a little more than a half sheet of heavy watercolor paper, cold press. I wasn't trying to do anything intellectual, just paint an image and light I liked while using the watercolor medium to my best advantage. So, as usual, some things turn out, some don't. That's kinda how watercolors are unless you are a control freak.
a couple from life painting workshop at the Muse. Ryan's chest was/is a bitch to paint/draw. Couldn't get it right. I like the color in his upright leg though. Susan is always a good model to paint. The light looks off though.
I'm supposed to make this more interesting to get more viewers? Well, something for the lovers of feet? I hope that does it. ha I'm working on being deeper too, more philosophical about what and why I paint what I do. I'm working on that one, it may take a while. another ha
one from a photo of mine and a couple from Life Drawing. Sorry for the crappy photographs from life drawing. It is odd what the light or lack of it in an environment does to my colors.

a couple from life drawing, 9x12, oil on loose canvas. A new inexperienced model. Nice and lean and some good light from my corner.
some conte on newsprint from life drawing. All 20 minute. As you can tell, I like the broad sweep of the conte crayon. I know it isn't a very traditional way of using it, but it is how I taught myself and it works for me.
a one hour portrait of Susan done at life drawing. Oil on oil primed panel. Limited palette, yellow ochre, cad yellow, cad scarlet, tuscan red, ultra blue, burnt umber, burnt sienna, flake white.
10x10 oil on canvas. A few last minute fixes and it will be done. This is something I painted before. I think it looks much better this time. I was experimenting with softer brushes and a different color combination in the hair, trying to get away from using earthtones so much. .
